Employee Assistance Program

 

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free, confidential counseling and referral service designed to help JPS team members resolve personal and work-related issues that may affect your job performance or quality of life. The EAP is available and free of charge to JPS team members and their immediate families. If you are unsure about your eligibility, please call the EAP.

A licensed therapist is available 24/7. In-person appointments are also available during office hours. For support and guidance, call 817-702-1688.

Jeff Christie, Director

The EAP offers confidential and professional counseling under the leadership of Jeff Christie, CEAP, LCSW. Jeff is a licensed clinical social worker and a certified employee assistance professional who has devoted his career to providing high quality employee assistance programs for the benefit of employees and their families.

Jeff’s experience includes managing the EAPs for several Fortune 500 companies. He has also served as president of the two largest professional associations in his field: the Employee Assistance Roundtable and the Employee Assistance Professionals Association. Jeff has always had a deep interest in professional ethics.

Beyond providing numerous workshops and journal articles on the importance of ethics in EAP practice, he is a co-author of Ethical Dilemmas in Workplace Counseling: A Casebook.

Jackie Todd, LPC, NCC, CEAP

Jackie Todd combines extensive training in mindfulness, diagnostics, trauma and crisis intervention with her clinical experience in individual and group counseling. Jackie earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and her master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Texas. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP).


Alana Yanagida, LCSW

Alana’s broad clinical experience includes working with those of all ages in individual and group settings, outpatient behavioral health clinics, and school systems. Her training and experience is strength-based, recovery-focused, and includes crisis management, diagnostics, and trauma informed care. Alana received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Religious Studies from Bradley University and her master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Texas.

 

 

Short-term consultation and referral services are available for any challenges that you may face. Our counselors have the training and experience to assist team members and their families with a wide range of life issues. After initial assessment, you and the EAP counselor will discuss whether your needs are better addressed through short-term counseling or by referral to an appropriate specialist.

Services to Organizational Leaders

The JPS Employee Assistance Program provides consultation with, training of, and assistance to JPS leadership seeking to manage a troubled employee, enhance the work environment, and improve employee job performance. These offerings include the following stand-alone or integrated resources:

  • Management consultation: use of an EAP clinician to offer behavioral science expertise in the formulation of a plan to address an employee behavioral problem.
  • Management trainings: for example, the “Constructive Accountability” segment of Sprint for Success.
  • Management referrals: This may begin with coaching a leader in the use of constructive confrontation to address the employee’s job performance problem. Once the referral is made, the EAP clinician provides the referring leader with information specific to the employee’s attendance and compliance with EAP recommendations.

 

Presentation Services

The JPS Employee Assistance Professionals provide ongoing EAP specific trainings and EAP topical seminars. These services can be requested by a leader from any department. Topics may include, but not limited to, any of the following:

Group Support

The JPS EAP clinicians offer debriefings and support groups to those departments in need. This may be requested for the following reasons:

  • Death of a beloved employee, employee family member, or patient
  • Aftermath of a natural disaster
  • Aftermath of an emotionally convoluted case that’s affecting the team
  • Traumatizing event that has affected the team

 

Schwartz Rounds

Schwartz Rounds, which provides a special method of fostering emotional resilience in the workplace, is now embraced and practiced across more than 500 healthcare organizations. The purpose of Schwartz Rounds is to bring us together, on a regular basis, to talk about the difficult social, emotional, and spiritual issues we face daily in our work as caregivers. It is a chance to hear from, and share with, our colleagues, in a safe and confidential environment, our thoughts, our feelings, and experiences. And in doing so, to remind and refresh the compassion and caring that originally led us into our careers. Schwartz Rounds are different than the usual ones. They are not to problem-solve, analyze, or critique. We meet to share our experiences, to find support in our daily challenges, to foster teamwork, and ultimately to enhance the quality of care we provide our patients. The JPS Employee Assistance Program is one of several JPS functions that collaborate in the offering of Schwartz Rounds.
